LOCATION
A land of extraordinary colour and contrast, rich in history and breathtaking scenery, Broome is Australia’s premier outback destination.
Originally founded as a pearling port over a hundred years ago, Japanese, Malays, Kopepangers and Europeans were lured to the town with the promise of finding their fortune. Form this romantic and flamboyant beginning, the exotic seaside town of Broome experienced a cultural fusion that soon saw the development of a unique colonial and Asian matrix of gourmet cuisine, colourful characters and distinct influences which can still be seen today.
Nestled on the shores of Roebuck Bay, Broome is the southern gateway to the magnificent Kimberley. We hope that you can take a few extra days to explore even one of the other areas that make up the Kimberley region including Dampier Peninsula, King Sound, Buccaneer Archipelago, Gibb River Road, Kunanurra, Lake Argyle, Purnululu National Park and the Bungle Bungle Range.

Staircase to the Moon
A natural phenomenon caused when the rising full moon reflects off the exposed mudflats in Roebuck Bay at extremely low tide. A beautiful optical illusion of a staircase reaching to the moon is created. It only occurs a few times a year and one of them is Wednesday! We will provide a free return transfer to the Mangrove Hotel for dinner (at own expense) and viewing.
